After graduating from UT, I worked in the corporate world, first as a bank credit analyst in El Paso and later as a financial analyst for a Christian music and publishing company in Las Colinas. When my company relocated to Nashville, I decided to pursue a career in education and taught in Denton for four years in 4th and 5th grades before we welcomed our son into the world. I was a stay-at-home mom until my daughter started first grade at ICCS. This is my seventh year to teach at ICCS, and I feel truly blessed to work with such dedicated colleagues and wonderful families. A Catholic school education is one of the best gifts we can give our children.
I was born in McAllen, TX, and grew up in the rural area of the small town of Alamo in South Texas, just a few miles north of the Mexican border, where my parents still live. I am happily married to Carlos, my husband of twenty-five years, who is a physics professor at UNT. We met in a co-ed service fraternity at UT and married at St. Austin Catholic Church. After living in Austin, El Paso, and Carrollton, we settled in Denton where we've been parishioners at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for over twenty years. Our son Cody attended ICCS from PreK4 through 8th grade and is now a junior at Denton High. Our daughter Jamie is an ICCS 7th grader.
When not grading math papers, I enjoy spending time with my family and Kirby, our rescue (Yorkie) dog. My daughter and I volunteer a lot of time at the animal shelter in Denton. Reading, watching movies, baking, grilling, eating out, cross stitching, and listening to Christian music round out my hobbies.
