Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
From the earliest days of the Christian faith, the call to follow Christ as his disciples has always recognized the profound responsibility to teach others and to propagate the deposit of faith received from Our Lord. Indeed, the early apostles - after the Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Christ - were presented with an almost improbable task, "to make disciples of all nations." The gift they had received was not a gift to be possessed but to be shared, and to be shared profusely. Such is our task as baptized Christians, and most especially for those entrusted with the care, education, and formation of children.
The mission of Christian discipleship, therefore, is the foundation of Catholic education and the raison d'^etre (i.e. the reason and justification) for its existence. As Catholic-Christians, we hold firmly to the belief that faith-based education contributes best and most effectively to the full development and flourishing of the human person. According to the Second Vatican Council's Declaration on Catholic Education,
"A Christian education does not merely strive for the maturing of a human person as just now described, but has its principal purpose this goal: that the baptized, while they are gradually introduced to the knowledge of the mystery of salvation, become ever more
aware of the gift of Faith they have received, and that they learn in addition
how to worship God the Father in spirit and truth..."
The education and formation that Immaculate Conception Catholic School seeks to provide for our children is the manner by which they will, progressively, come to the fullness of Christian maturity and obtain the necessary physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual tools to navigate with grace the joys and disappointments that will inevitably accompany them along their journey with Our Lord.
It is my hope that as you search our school's website and consider the possibility of enrolling your children in our school that our fidelity to Christ's message is evident, and that our administration and faculty's commitment to the education and formation of your young people is apparent, as well. I remain,
Sincerely in Christ,
