I have worked in this wonderful school since 2008, and I have been fortunate to teach fifth, fourth, second, and third grades.
I am a native Texan from Panhandle, which is a small town near Amarillo. After completing high school, I joined the Marine Corps and served for 2 and one-half years. After my husband was discharged from the Navy we returned to Amarillo, where he began working for Federal Aviation Administration. As a part of my husband’s career we moved several times: Amarillo, El Paso, Silver City, N.M., and Russellville, Arkansas. We have two adult children, Beth Hampton and Robert Junior, and five grandchildren.
While in Arkansas, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with additional certifications to teach sixth to eighth grade science and social studies from Arkansas Tech University. I began working for the university and completed a Master’s in Elementary Education. I began working at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School in North Little Rock. This involved a seventy-mile, one-way commute, from Russellville. I taught third grade from 2000-2007. While I was working IHMS, I obtained a Certification for School Administration from the University of Dallas. During the 2007-2008 school year, I was the principal of St. John’s Catholic School in Russellville. I enjoyed being the principal, but I missed the classroom.
Meanwhile, our son was discharged from the Navy and moved to Irving. I went to the National Catholic Educators Administration site and saw an opening for a teacher at Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Denton. I applied and was contacted by Mrs. Schad. I was fortunate to be hired by her and I am extremely happy to be here.
